How the centre works?
Our psychology and therapy centre is located at 21 Shepherd Avenue – on the border of Randburg and Bryanston, a short distance from the Randburg Law Courts.
Convenient for people who live in the greater JHB area – Sandton, Randburg, Roodepoort, Fourways and Midrand.
Yes, we do. If possible, it is preferable to do the first session in person. For online therapy, payment is required in advance and the costs are the same as for in person therapy.
- Let us know what issue you have, or what type of therapy you need – is it for a child, an adult, or a couple?
- We will recommend a therapist, let you know what the costs will be, and find a convenient time slot for your appointment.
- Most appointments are 1 hour long. (For couple and family sessions, the first session is longer – it is 1½ hours.)
Our rates are charged according to Medical Aid Price Lists (e.g., for Discovery the rate for Psychologists is about R1292.00 per hour). Other medical aid rates are similar.
For other therapies, please ask us for prices.
Yes, our cash rate is the same as the medical aid rate. We also accept credit card and EFT payments.
Yes, we have appointments available after working hours, and on Saturdays.
The number of sessions depend on your therapy journey – everyone is different. The psychologist / therapist will discuss an individual way forward with you.

We charge the tariff rate for all medical aids. The consultation will come out of your medical aid savings.

* Certain medical aids require the patient to pay upfront and will be refunded by the medical aid, provided that the patient has savings available.

No, we are not an in-patient facility. However, we can help with individual counselling sessions. The psychologist can then assess and refer you to a facility if need be.

Couples, Family & Children
Yes, our psychologists prefer to see a family for the first time for an hour and a half, then going forward sessions are hourly. We charge medical aid rates for family counselling, the rates are the same as for individual therapy sessions.
Our psychologists prefer to see a couple for the first time for an hour and a half, then hourly sessions after that. The number of sessions are dependent on your therapy journey – every couple is different. It is preferrable to see couples in person for the initial sessions.

Yes, we can assist you with a full Psycho-Educational Assessment.
This process involves a consultation with the parents first, to get a full history on the child, and then approximately 5 hours of testing with the child. The psychologist then compiles a full report.
The parents then come back for a feedback session for a report and to explain the findings, as well as recommendations given as to how to help the child.
We charge medical aid rates for these assessments. Please note that GEMS, POLMED, CAMAF and PROFMED medical aids do not cover assessments.
We will conduct a full Psycho-Educational Assessment to get a diagnosis, and recommendations as to the way forward.

Do you need the test for yourself or your child, or did the school ask you to get a test?
An IQ Test measures intellectual abilities, whereas a Psycho-Educational Assessment is more comprehensive. It includes IQ testing, learning abilities, and psycho-emotional assessment.
We provide Psycho-Educational Assessments, which result in an in-depth report on intellectual abilities, strengths and weaknesses, with recommendations.
